On August 29, 2025, Embassy of China in Ukraine hosted a Reception and Photo exhibition commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. More than 200 guests attended, including Ambassador Ma Shengkun, foreign diplomats in Ukraine and representatives from various sectors of Ukrainian society.

In his speech, Ambassador Ma noted that 80 years ago, after 14 years of arduous and heroic struggle, the Chinese people achieved a great victory in the Chinese People`s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, making an indelible contribution to the global victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and heralding its final triumph. This victory, he stressed, belonged not only to the Chinese people but also to all peace-loving nations and peoples around the world.

He emphasized that the Taiwan’s return to China was an important outcome of the Chinese people’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and that any form of separatist attempts for so-called “Taiwan independence” poses a serious challenge to the outcomes of World War II and the post-war international order. Ambassador underlined that China’s complete reunification is an unstoppable trend of history, and this is a widely recognized consensus within the international community.

Ambassador Ma also highlighted that the Ukrainian people paid a heavy price in the World Anti-Fascist War. In particular, he recalled the sacrifice of Ukrainian pilot Hryhorii Kulishenko, who selflessly joined China’s fight against Japanese aggression, and whose heroic deeds have long been remembered and admired by the Chinese people.

Ambassador stressed that history cannot be distorted, and the achievements of the victory cannot be erased. He added that the Chinese people will stand with the nations from all over the world and face common challenges through cooperation, address security risks through development, and enhance understanding and inclusiveness through mutual learning among civilizations, jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The guests congratulated China on the 80th anniversary of its victory in the War of Resistance, praised China’s great contribution to the global victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, and expressed their shared hope for lasting world peace.
