Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Ma Shengkun Attends “UN Chinese Language Day” Event at Kyiv National Linguistic University
On April 20, 2026, Ambassador Ma Shengkun was invited to attend the awards ceremony for the “UN Chinese Language Day” translation competition for high school and college students at Kyiv National Linguistic University and delivered a speech.

Ambassador Ma introduced the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. He expressed his delight at seeing so many Ukrainian youth actively learning Chinese and exploring Chinese culture, emphasizing that the Chinese language is a vital key to understanding Chinese culture. He encouraged the students to maintain their enthusiasm for learning, continuously improve their academic performance, deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and contribute to promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and Ukraine.
Sergii Sorokin, Acting Rector of Kyiv National Linguistic University,expresed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy and Chinese enterprises for their strong support of Chinese language education in Ukraine. He emphasized that the competition provides a platform for students to showcase their abilities and helps promote the sustainable development of Chinese language education in Ukraine.

The “Ukraine High School and University Student Translation Competition” at Kyiv National Linguistic University is jointly organized by the university’s Confucius Institute and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, and has been held three times to date.
