On June 29, Ambassador Ma Shengkun was invited to give the opening lecture for the All-Ukraine Chinese Language Teachers’ Professional Capacity Building Training Program organized by Kyiv National Linguistic University. Nearly 100 university faculty, primary and secondary school teachers, and young scholars from all over Ukraine attended the training through a hybrid online-offline format.

Centered on the theme China’s Diplomacy in the New Era and Mutual Learning Between Civilizations: New Opportunities and New Progress in China-Ukraine People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges, Ambassador Ma systematically expounded on the core connotations of the Global Civilization Initiative, reviewed the historical origins of exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Ukrainian civilizations. He encouraged all sectors of Ukrainian society to seize fresh opportunities for China-Ukraine exchanges and cooperation, give full play to the vital role of the Chinese language and young people in inter-civilizational exchange and mutual learning, take civilizational ties as a bond, and act as guardians of China-Ukraine friendship.

Since 2024, Kyiv National Linguistic University has hosted the All-Ukraine Chinese Language Teachers’ Professional Capacity Building Training Program on an annual basis. Having held three sessions so far, the program has grown into a key platform for Ukraine’s Sinology community to conduct academic exchanges, share teaching experience and boost professional development.
