Honorable Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis,

Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Friends,

Good evening!

Today, we are gathered here to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all distinguished guests! I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to friends from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported China’s development and devoted themselves to China-Ukraine friendship and cooperation. I also extend my warm festive greetings and best wishes to all Chinese compatriots in Ukraine!

Looking back on the glorious journey of the past 77 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese nation has made a historic leap-forward from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, writing a magnificent chapter in the history of the Chinese nation’s development. In the early days of New China, much remained to be done. Today, China has grown into the world’s second-largest economy and the world’s largest trader in goods. Also, China has become a major trading partner of more than 160 countries and regions.

In the first half of 2026, China’s GDP totaled 69.6 trillion yuan, up 4.7 percent year on year. The economy maintained a sound momentum while advancing toward stability, innovation, higher-quality and greener growth, demonstrating strong vitality and remaining an important engine of global economic growth.

“The strong pass is like iron, yet now we are striding over it from the start.” This year marks the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Standing at a new historical starting point, China continues to demonstrate strong economic resilience. New quality productive forces are being fostered and strengthened at a faster pace, while emerging industries such as high-end manufacturing, new energy, artificial intelligence, robotics and innovative drugs are thriving.

As President Xi Jinping pointed out, “the Chinese economy is not a pond, but an ocean.” Looking ahead, domestically, China will advance Chinese modernization on all fronts through high-quality development and accelerate efforts to foster a new development pattern. Internationally, China will expand high-standard opening up and continue to provide new opportunities for the world with China’s new development.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Over the past 105 years, the CPC has remained true to its original aspiration and mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, while also dedicating itself to promoting human progress and world harmony. All the achievements of Chinese modernization are fundamentally attributable to the centralized and unified leadership of the Communist Party of China and to our commitment to a development path suited to our national conditions. The Communist Party of China stands ready to boost exchanges and cooperation with political parties and organizations of other countries based on the principles of independence, complete equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, and to work together to deliver greater benefits to people of all countries.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the world today, changes unseen in a century are accelerating. The deficits in peace, development, security and governance continue to widen. Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation have resurfaced, while global challenges keep emerging. Humanity has come to a historical crossroads.

In response to these questions of our times, China champions the common values of humanity and advocates building a community with a shared future for mankind. President Xi Jinping has successively put forward the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. Together with high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, they constitute a series of important international public goods China offers to the world in the new era.

The Global Development Initiative focuses on development and advances the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, while promoting practical cooperation projects in livelihood-related areas. The Global Security Initiative advocates the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, and calls for peacefully resolving differences and disputes through dialogue and consultation. The Global Civilization Initiative advocates equality, exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and rejects the notions of superiority of certain civilizations and clash of civilizations. The Global Governance Initiative advocates sovereign equality and practices multilateralism, aiming to make the global governance system more just and equitable.

High-quality Belt and Road cooperation is an important platform for concrete actions to build a community with a shared future for mankind. More than 150 countries and over 30 international organizations have joined Belt and Road cooperation, with more than 4,000 infrastructure and industrial projects implemented, creating local jobs and contributing to local economic growth.

Facts have proven that China’s cooperation with other countries is about mutual benefit and win-win results. It helps to build a platform for common development and mutual empowerment. China never “pulls away the ladder” for the development of other countries. China will continue to uphold the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and welcome all countries to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Ukraine strategic partnership, and next year will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two sides, acting on the common understanding reached by the two heads of state, have upheld the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, making efforts to advance the sound and steady development of bilateral relations. For many years, China has remained Ukraine’s largest trading partner and a major source of imports. Bilateral trade has demonstrated strong resilience. Following the signing of protocols on the export of Ukrainian peas and wild aquatic products to China last year, this year we signed another protocol on Ukrainian wheat flour, laying a solid foundation for further expanding Ukrainian agricultural exports to China.

My experience working in Ukraine for nearly two years has shown me that Ukraine’s economic and social development has a solid foundation, enormous potential and broad prospects. The Chinese and Ukrainian economies are highly complementary, and our cooperation has broad prospects. China stands ready to be a trustworthy partner of Ukraine, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both countries, and together open up new prospects for the development of bilateral relations.

We are keenly aware of the difficult times the Ukrainian people are facing. In this regard, China has consistently followed the four shoulds proposed by President Xi Jinping. China has maintained an objective and impartial stance, actively promoted talks for peace, and worked for a political settlement. China will continue to stand firmly on the side of peace, support all efforts conducive to peace, and continue to play a constructive role in its own way to achieve a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities as soon as possible and eventually reach a peace agreement.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Seventy-seven years of journey through wind and rain have shaped the China of today. Looking ahead, China will continue to steadfastly advance Chinese modernization, stay committed to the path of peaceful development, expand high-standard opening up, firmly uphold and practice multilateralism, and continue to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. China will join hands with all countries to safeguard peace, pursue development and promote prosperity.

Now, I would like to propose a toast:

To the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,

To everlasting friendship between the peoples of China and Ukraine,

To peace, development and prosperity for all countries of the world,

And to the good health and happiness of all our distinguished guests!

Cheers!
